Day 1 - Kick off!

Montmorency to Kinglake, VIC, 49km.

It has been a day filled with good omens.  It started in Diamond Creek where a very friendly lollipop lady stopped for a bike chat.  A lovely bloke stopped to connect over lunch, sharing his own cycle touring joys.  The weather was with us all day, warm and sunny, with a cool breeze as we climbed and the hills were just the right amount of hard.  Finally, at our camp ground, in Kinglake NP, we are graced with a kingfisher.  The very same type of bird that watched our wedding from a branch above.

We couldn't have asked for a better first day.  The camp ground is lovely, the ranger was enthusiastic, and we spotted two echidna, a wallaby, a snake and heaps of birds.

The tent is cosy, the whiskey is ready, here's to bike touring!
