Day 65 - The News

Some of you may recall reading the post on Day 39 "The tandem that never was (meant to be")?  It describes the sentiments of finding closure with the reality that the long planned tandem was never going to happen and that we decided to move on regardless.

The sharing of this unfortunate circumstance helped and led to many encouraging comments from our community and many we spoke to about it. But it also still left some questions unanswered.

Yesterday we received a letter from a law firm in Melbourne. We are sad to share that Ewen Gellie, the owner of Gellie Custom Bicycle Frames, has passed away in March. The letter of course is very formal and is addressed to all customers who have unfulfilled orders. We have engaged in the communication and have submitted the information requested. But we both feel that this process is now secondary.

While the news have answered the final questions and delivered closure to the tandem project, it also hit us hard. We don't know the circumstances of his passing and we keep our interpretations private. We feel for the family and offer them our deep sympathy.

As for today, we ride in peace and in gratitude for the good life on two wheels.
