Day 93 - 94 - Out of the blue
Out of the blue (van) they appeared!

Since being on tour, the sensation of being surprised by the unexpected has become a mostly pleasant side effect of Coddiwomple, ignoring the 'hitting the COVID pothole' (as SJ so matchingly put it) for a moment. Some of the encounters, sightings, viewings couldn't have been planned, even if you tried.
When our dear friends and Watervale neighbours, Kel and Hayden, with their three kids Bridie, Archer and Percy and - not to forget - greyhound Billie, embarked on their, slightly more motorised, version of Coddiwomple back in January, we were hopeful that we would meet somewhen, somewhere under the big skies of this continent. So when Kel texted the night before yesterday, simply asking "are you up for a visit?" we clapped our hands in excitement! She had also added the comment "it took bloody COVID to finally catch you girls!".
It felt a bit like one of those 'airport moments', in which you nervously tip from one foot to the other, in anticipation of the warm embrace and the "so good to see you!". These moments are priceless, no matter whether they happen in arrival halls at airports or in the main street of Jandowae QLD. There were many travel tales to share, also contemplating the deeper effects of the journey so far and whether they would bring long lasting changes. It was an absolute gift to hang out with them for a few hours, in front of their cabin, over a few glasses of wine.
Thank you guys, for taking the detour to see us, a milestone moment on Coddiwomple that came truly out of the blue!

Watervale's intrepid travellers |
The catch up left us with an increasing appetite to return to the road hopefully very soon and has added an appropriate fashion accessory to my very minimal travel wardrobe, one that will undoubtedly qualify me for walking into any small town pub anywhere in Queensland and order a XXXX...
But I suspect that my accent needs a bit of work.
That is so lovely girls and a real boost for your spirits. Love the scarf.
